When unofficially holidays meet, what are we supposed to do?

On one hand, the A's are a professional team that is largely playing without a real home that has averaged over 100 losses per season since 2022.

On the other, Patrick Corbin entered this season having posted four straight seasons with an ERA north of 5.00.

Betting against both of these entities has been close to a mandate for the past few years ... so what happens when they share a field?

The Athletics have largely remained a mess and while they have some power bats that can make things exciting on occasion, all of their predictive metrics fall off a cliff when asked to play in an actual MLB ballpark during their road games. Globe Life has been the least friendly field in terms of power allowed this season and ranks in the 25th percentile over the past three seasons, making this a tough spot to envision the road team finding much success.

Corbin, however, is trending in the right direction. He's allowed just four runs in 16.2 innings this month and hasn't been saddled with a loss in exactly a month. That's not to say the southpaw has found a fountain of youth (he turned 36 years old over the Break), but his style (on pace for the highest fly ball rate of his career) matches up with his environment and that's enough to get my support in this specific spot (3.30 home ERA this season compared to 4.39 on the road).
