NBA Almost Back in Action, Tiger hosts PGA Tour Event

The NBA returns from it’s sabbatical with 10 games on Thursday night to start the closing stretch of the season.

The Hornets have been one of the top stories over the past month, blending their fun style of play with results. 

It’s good for the NBA when teams like this find success sooner than later on their developmental curve and this isn’t a fully fluky run. Heck, they beat these Rockets by 10 points earlier this month, so I understand why this is viewed as a one possession game. 

But it shouldn’t be. 

Both teams are rested coming out of the Break, but the home team isn’t at full strength due to the suspensions resulting from their fight with the Pistons. Miles Bridges will sit this game as a result and so will Moussa Diabate, a player that was +14 in 29 minutes in the aforementioned win over Houston. 

These are the top two rebounding teams in the NBA, but Diabate’s absence makes sustaining that portion of the profile an uphill battle tomorrow night. The Hornets are just 2-9 outright when being out-rebounded and the majority of those defeats have come by 13+ points. 

For the Rockets, almost everything went wrong last time around. Kevin Durant had six turnovers (just one assist), Reed Sheppard missed eight of 10 shots, and the Amen Thompson/Alperen Sengun tandem scored just 15 points in 61 minutes (struggles that were amplified by Jalen Green and Kon Knueppel scoring 38 points on 12-of-18 shots). 

I’ve got this as the best value on the board as the Association opens their “second half”. If you’re in the business of chasing better odds, DraftKings has opened at +285 for the Rockets to win both halves.
